Frequently Asked Questions
about vehicle wraps
When a vehicle is wrapped, a graphics installer will apply a thin, purpose-made vinyl film to the finished surfaces of your vehicle. Vehicle wraps are used to completely change the colour of a car; to market a business, event or promotion; or to add accents to your vehicle.
The reasoning for wrapping a car varies from person to person. From a commercial perspective, wrapping is a great way to turn an otherwise standard-looking vehicle into a moving billboard that will generate public awareness and set you apart from your competition. For our private customers, wrapping is a way to customize the appearance of your vehicle while also protecting it against the elements or minor damage that may occur while driving.
The longevity of a vinyl wrap is dependent on quite a few factors. Generally speaking, films from top-tier manufacturers such as 3M and Avery Dennison will last between five to seven years. While not high maintenance, your vinyl wrap will need to be cared for to achieve its full potential. Similar to paint, improper maintenance and neglect can cause damage and reduced lifespan.
When applied and removed by a qualified graphics professional, a vinyl wrap should not damage your vehicle’s OEM paint. If your vehicle has been repainted or has damaged paint, be sure to inform your graphics installer prior to installation. These factors can affect the integrity of your vehicles finish, potentially resulting in damage.
Vinyl wrap film is offered in a wide variety of colours, textures and finishes. These include matte, satin, gloss, brushed aluminum, carbon fibre and chrome to mention a few. Each manufacturer’s catalogue contains unique offerings and colour interpretations. When printed onto using a wide-format printer, the creative possibilities are endless.
This is dependent on the complexity or design of your wrap, and factors such as vehicle shape and size. Please note that printed vinyl wraps containing graphics need 24 hours to dry prior to installation.
A finished wrap will look as good as the paint underneath it. While wrap vinyl is conformable and can usually be installed overtop dents and scratches, it will not hide or eliminate the damage. We recommend repairing any damage before hand, if feasible, so that your wrap will look its best. This is especially true for rust, which can compromise the bond between the vinyl and the vehicle’s surface.

Pricing is heavily dependent on the film chosen, the complexity of the install, the size of the vehicle, production time involved, etcetera. For an accurate quote on your project, please contact one of our knowledgeable staff by email or over the phone.
The aim of a vinyl wrap is to create the impression that your vehicle has been custom painted. Despite this, wrapping a vehicle is not a perfect artform. While we strive for the best possible results, we advise discussing realistic outcomes with your graphic installer. They can also help you understand any limitations beforehand.
Although manufacturers such as 3M and Avery Dennison manufacture their products with innovative features that help graphic installers and designers overcome common obstacles, there are still limitations to wrapping a vehicle. This is best illustrated with vehicle bumpers. The complex curves, deep cut-outs and sharp angles found on modern bumpers may require the graphic installer to use multiple pieces of vinyl instead of one. Objects such as plastic trim sometimes cannot be wrapped at all.
As a result of our many combined years of experience and testing, we utilize both 3M and Avery Dennison films for our vehicle wraps. We’ve found that both offer unparalleled durability, ease of use and deliver the best overall results post install. While each has its advantages and disadvantages, both offerings are regarded as the best in the market. If a section of the wrap needs to be replaced due to damage or age, our films are readily available and can easily be found.
Most premium-grade vinyl films like 3M and Avery Dennison can only be purchased through authorized dealers. This is to ensure that the film is being installed by qualified installers who can guarantee professional level results that will last the test of time. While vinyl wrap film can be bought online by the general public, it may not posses the features or technology that allow for a successful installation.
Keeping your vehicle wrap clean will help preserve its appearance and extend its lifespan. To clean, wash with a mild soap and warm water using a non-abrasive sponge or towel. A pressure washer may be used, but extra caution should be taken not to spray too close to the wrap, to pressure wash during winter months, or to spray the vinyl’s edges directly. Hand waxing will also protect your wrap against degradation and help maintain its shine.
While hand washing is recommended, you may also take your vehicle through a touchless carwash.
